Health Update – 2024 Plan

A quick comment on my health and then on what my plan for 2024 looks like.

In late 2019 I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition called Wegeners ( GPA for modernists ). It is a vasculitis disease which attacks the small blood vessels. It can be very debilitating and at times for me, it has been. I have been doing Rituxan infusions every 6 months for the last 3 yrs. I have largely just had sinus/eye involvement, but earlier this year my lungs became impacted by the disease. There is much more I could say about the disease, but for now, I will leave it at that.

I sought to find an anti-inflammatory diet to try and help manage my health, I truly desire not to be on chemo/pharma drugs if I can help it. After trying the Whole30 for 90 days and the Anti-Inflammatory Protocol (AIP) I stumbled upon ( providentially directed by God ) the Carnivore Diet. When I first heard about it I thought, “Man, that is super intense”. However, it was a friend who recommended it and I knew of another friend who was dealing with health challenges and having good success.

As I began to dig into this WOE ( way of eating ) I became more & more convinced of the benefits and possibilities of carnivore. I have been doing carnivore-ish for 1.5 – 2 years and have had some great results, but as I reflect upon the last few years I have never really committed fully to carnivore and given this WOE a proper opportunity to do what I hear it can do. I will acknowledge that Wegeners is a difficult & challenging autoimmune and that will surely take intense commitment to manage and/or heal from. That is a commitment I am hoping to hit for 2024.

This year I plan to transition to a more strict version of carnivore, which is called The Lions Diet. It is a carnivore diet, but where it differs is it focuses on eating ruminant meats, salt & water. It sounds intense, but so is having a disease that will take your life if not managed or dealt with. I also plan to implement intermittent fasting. I have been reading more on the health benefits of fasting. I will start with a 16:8 fasting/eating window and will likely move to an OMAD ( One Meal A Day ). I also plan to add in longer fasts 48-72hrs maybe once a month or once every other month. Still more reading on that.

    • Eating Plan ( Carnivore until mid-February and then implement Lions Diet )
    • Exercise: X3 ( 6 days/wk )
  • 4/1/2024 – 06/30/2024
    • Eating Plan ( The Lions Diet )
    • Exercise: X3 ( 6 days/wk )
  • 7/1/2024 – 09/30/2024
    • Eating Plan ( The Lions Diet )
    • Exercise: X3 ( 6 days/wk )
  • 10/1/2024 – 12/31/2024
    • Eating Plan ( The Lions Diet )
    • Exercise: X3 ( 6 days/wk )

I plan to be more meticulous about tracking progress ( weight, blood work, inflammation markers, exercise, food ) and posting that info here.
